The Things Worth Doing While The Walls Are Open

The same applies to cleanouts on drain lines, access panels behind tubs and showers, and running a line to somewhere you might plausibly want a fixture later. We will flag these while it is still cheap to act on them, and you can decide.

Walk The Job And Understand The Plan
We walk the space with you and get clear on what is actually being built, where fixtures are going, and what the finished layout looks like. Then we look at what already exists: pipe material and condition, where the supply enters, how the drains run, where the vents are, and what the existing capacity can realistically support. Adding a second bathroom to a house on old, undersized pipe is a very different job from adding one to a modern system, and that needs establishing before anybody quotes.

Design And Scope It Properly
Fixture positions, pipe sizing for the demand, drain routing and fall, venting, and isolation points all get worked out before materials are ordered. This is also when we flag the things that are worth doing while the walls are open, because the cost of adding a valve or a cleanout during construction is trivial compared with retrofitting one later. You get a written scope and a free estimate showing what is included and what is not.
- Step 3
Rough-In
Supply and drain lines are run, properly supported, and pressure tested before anything is covered. On a remodel we coordinate timing with your other trades so the plumbing is complete and signed off before tile and drywall go in. Where permits are required we pull them and book the rough-in inspection at this stage, because failing an inspection after the walls are closed is expensive in a way that is entirely avoidable.

Finish And Fixture Setting
Once the surfaces are finished we set the fixtures: sinks, faucets, toilets, showers, tubs, disposals, and appliance connections. Everything is set level and sealed properly, supply connections are made with new lines rather than reused ones, and stop valves are fitted at each fixture. Trim and handles go on last so they do not get damaged during the rest of the work.

Test Everything, Then Show You The System
The whole system is brought up to pressure and checked. Every fixture is run hot and cold, drains are tested under real volume, and we check underneath each one while the water is running. Then we walk you around the system and show you where the main shut-off is, where each isolation valve sits, and where the cleanouts are. You get the paperwork, any inspection sign-offs, and the fixture warranties.
